The follow-up to the popular Gundam Seed (2002-2003), Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (2004-2005) takes place two years later, in 73, Cosmic Era. The hero of the Destiny is Shin Asuka, whose family was killed during the previous war: he pilots the latest and most complex Gundam, which assembles itself in midair, like Gekigangar III in Nadesico. Shin has to fight three raiders who steal new-model Gundams during the visit of Princess Cagalli Athha of Orb to ZAFT Chairman Durandal. Athrun Zala, the hero of Gundam Seed, has given up combat duty to serve as an aid to Athha, but by the end of episode 5, he's back in the cockpit where he belongs. The conflict between the Naturals and the genetically enhanced Coordinators remains the underlying cause of the military and political struggles. The raid on the ZAFT base gets Gundam Seed Destiny off to a roaring start, and director Mitsuo Fukuda choreographs the land and space mecha battles with impressive skill. As you read this I would like you to keep in mind that this is my impression from one viewing of the series which ended about 6 months ago. This review is a review of the original Japanese airing as I have no interest in the English dub. > Read more

Starts good, ends weak
This review is from: Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny (+ Series Box) (Limited Edition) (DVD)
I have to admit, this show started well....alright. I was alittle ticked on the unoriginality of reusing old MS designs like the Zaku, Dom, Gouf, etc. But besides that the show started just as strong as any other anime would have. > Read more
